Zoomcar to use Mahindra EVs in India
Zoomcar and Mahindra Electric have struck a deal to promote shared mobility of electric vehicles in India. Mahindra Electric, a manufacturer of EVs, will provide a number of vehicles to the Indian subsidiary of Zoomcar, a start-up which rents out vehicles by the hour, day, week or month.
As per the deal, users will be able to buy the new all-electric Mahindra e2o Plus, pictured, on ZAP, Zoomcar's fractional car ownership programme. When the vehicle stands idle, third parties can hire it via ZAP. The income helps the owner offset the cost of ownership. ZAP will be implemented first in Bangalore, Delhi and Pune, afterwards in other Indian cities.
"With this first-of-its-kind association with Zoomcar, we believe we will be able to make green mobility available to a larger audience,” Mahesh Babu, CEO of Mahindra Electric, was quoted by Automotive Fleet.
"Electric cars on shared mobility platforms is the ultimate way forward in solving the urban transportation problem,” said Greg Moran, CEO and co-founder of Zoomcar.
