Toyota takes sales crown from Ford in July
On a less than usual light truck focussed market, Japanese carmaker Toyota has overtaken Ford as most successful carmaker in the USA. It sold 4.3 percent more vehicles, while the market itself shrank by 6.9 percent. The American market has contracted by 2.9 percent since January 1st, to 9.87 million units.
Experts believes the market will be a bit more dynamic in the second half of the year, with new arrivals such as the BMW X3, Buick Regal, Chevrolet Traverse, Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry and VW Tiguan. However, they still expect the total market for passenger cars and light trucks to be at 17.1 million units by December 31st – equalling a decline of 2.5 percent.
