Russia market keeps rising in May
2017 got off to a bad start for carmakers in Russia, but since March, sales are finally up again after years of decline. April saw new car and LCV sales increase by 6.9 percent, a positive trend that strengthened in May, which saw the market grow by 15 percent compared to the same month last year. No less than 125,000 units were registered, 25,000 of which carried the Lada badge.
Like the largest domestic brand, parent company Renault also grew by 22 percent in May, registering just under 11,000 units. Ally Nissan is performing below expectations: it managed to increase its sales by just 6.5 percent. Amongst the premium OEMS, only BMW and Mercedes were able to ride the wave, increasing their sales by 7 and 8 percent, respectively.
