PSA to build LCVs in Uzbekistan
French OEM PSA has announced an assembly partnership with Uzbek vehicle builder SC UzAvtosanoat for the local production of light commercial vehicles, reports Journal Auto. The joint investment carries a price tag of 130 million euros and should create a capacity of 16,000 units per year.
Initially, the factory will only build vehicles for the domestic market, but from 2019 onwards, the Uzbekistan-produced Peugeots and Citroëns will also be supplied to other markets. The agreement states that at least 50 percent of all components will be built locally in the Central Asian republic.
