First JLR overseas engine plant opened
Jaguar Land Rover has started production in its brand-new Chinese engine plant –the group’s first engine-making site which is not based in the UK. The new plant is located next to the JLR’s car factory in Changshu, which it opened in 2014 as part of a partnership with local manufacturer Chery.
JLR invested 10.9 billion yuan (some 1.6 billion dollars) in Changshu, where the company will be making the new Ingenium 2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. JLR's car plant in Changshu builds the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover Discovery Sport and a long wheelbase Jaguar XFL, with the new Jaguar E-Pace added to the production portfolio next year.
