Daimler supports startups in Austin via MobilityX
Moovel North America has teamed with Capital Factory to create MobilityX. This transportation technology accelerator is based in Austin, Texas and will help mobility as a service companies to grow, thus bringing innovation to the mobility sector.
MobilityX will give local mobility startups unparalleled access to the industrial network of Daimler, which owns moovel N.A. The programme will serve as a conduit for advice, feedback and business opportunities with the German manufacturer.
Austin, the capital of Texas, is somewhat of an American hub for Daimler: it’s the homebase of car-sharing subsidiary car2go, and Daimler also recently acquired RideScout, a local startup now integrated into moovel N.A.
The city recently became one of the first places with Mercedes cars available to car2go users. Daimler also has previous links with Capital Factory, an incubator for Austin entrepreneurs and a member of the Google Tech Hub Network.
Via MobilityX, Capital Factory startups will have privileged access to executives, mentors and resources from the Daimler group. The initiative is Austin-based, but open to entrants from all over the U.S.
