Citroen C5 Aircross unmasked ahead of Shanghai
It was not with Citroën’s approval, but a few days before the opening of Auto Shanghai, the official pictures of the Double Chevron’s midsized SUV were spread on the internet. After the Peugeot 3008 and DS7 Crossback, the Citroën C5 Aircross is the third SUV model from PSA based on the EMP2 platform. This will also be used by Opel for the Grandland X, maximising economies of scale and synergies.
The pictures show an entirely digital dashboard, a big chunky centre console and a ‘regular’ steering wheel – the refreshing but controversial i-cockpit with a PlayStation-like mini-wheel remains the privilege of the Peugeot 3008. Engines and powertrains, however, are likely to be carried over, including a frugal three-cylinder petrol and a fleet-oriented 1.6 diesel. This also means that all-wheel drive is not available.
